Medical Microneedling
The solution to aging skin through stimulation of the collagen, your skin’s own structural support network.
What is Medical Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation technique, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT). Fibroblasts, the cells that are responsible for producing collagen, tend to become sluggish as we age. This in turn causes weakening and even loss of the support structure in and under our skin. With Medical Microneedling (in office) we repeatedly micro-puncture the skin to reach depths of 2mm or more, so stimulating these cells and other growth factors. Micro-needles also create thousands of micro-channels through the skin. This aids not only in the direct delivery of nutrients to the deeper layers of the skin, but also serves as a non-ablative method of controlled injury to stimulates the body’s healing cascade.
The basic steps of the healing cascade are: Injury — Hemostasis — Inflammation — Proliferation — Tissue Remodelling.
This process will result in a healthier, stronger and more radiant skin. Different medical devices are used to target different depths within the skin. At Captivating Skin Health and Wellness, we offer the broadest range of trialed, tested and proven microneedling techniques.

Process & Treatment
15-60 minutes
At Captivating Aesthetics, the first step is to book a consultation with Dr Wilhene Zwanepoel. During this consultation a brief medical and relevant aesthetic history will be taken. You will have the chance to discuss your treatment concerns, your treatment goals, your fears and concerns in regards to the actual treatment itself.
Photographs will be taken where-after your specific treatment plan will then be discussed.
Same day treatment is often not possible as an hour of topical freezing is required before the treatment. If you were considering a same day treatment, please discuss this when booking your appointment.
After booking our friendly team will send you a link to our patient portal, which allows you to complete the necessary forms in the comfort and safety of your own home. Once you arrive for your appointment, our front office team will get a set of baseline photos, and your treatment technician for the appointment will meet with you. They will ensure you understand the procedure, make sure your skin is adequately prepared, and bring you back into one of our treatment rooms. A topical anaesthetic is applied before the treatment. You will receive very specific guidelines.
If your treatment plan included PRP, it will be taken at this point. The treatment area will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared. The treatment is performed. A post-treatment mask is applied. You will also receive specific after-care directions.
As each individual has very specific goals and needs, every treatment plan differs. This will be thoroughly discussed during your consultation. Pricing ranges from $300+
Beware of home kits sold online. Please make sure that the product is Health Canada approved (Surgical Grade Steel) and you have instructions on how to keep your roller clean.
After Medical Microneedling, you will be advised to purchase a kit containing a home derma-roller and cleaning kit. This is very important for maintenance of your great results.
The derma-rollers can also be purchased without having in-office treatment done.
