Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
The most concentrated serum of healing and growth factors made by and tailored specifically for the needs of your own body. Our double spin system gives the highest yield of growth factors for the best possible results — don’t settle for less.
What is PRP?
Your body has the ability to heal itself after an injury. It is able to do so because of the highly potent growth factors produced BY your body that can be found in your blood. After an injury, a ” distress” signal is sent, and blood literally floods the injured area with healing growth factors. These growth factors are almost exclusively contained in our platelets (cellular component of blood).
Platelet rich plasma, or commonly referred to as PRP, is the part of whole blood that remains after it is centrifuged to remove red blood cells. PRP is made up of several different growth factors and substances called cytokines, all which play an integral part in the process of healing.
What are the benefits of PRP?
Over the last decade, the use of PRP in the medical and aesthetics fields have surpassed the expectations of experts involved in every field of its use.

Why PRP at Captivating Aesthetics?
Many places provide aesthetic services, including PRP. Make sure that you do your research before investing in any treatment. Fundamentally there are two ways of obtaining Platelet-containing-plasma, but only one true way of truly getting superior platelet-rich-plasma. At Captivating we continue our training in the most advanced techniques and dosing regimens so that we offer you superior results.
Plasma, or the fluid part of our blood, is obtained when whole blood is “spun down”, or centrifuged. This can be done at many different rates with many different centrifuges, depending on what the end goal is.
In the aesthetic and medical field, our end goal is to obtain the plasma (serum) with the highest concentration AND quality of growth factors, giving YOU the best long term results.
Essentially there are two ways of obtaining “PRP”: The Single spin and Double spin methods.
- The Single spin method involves only a single spin cycle of whole blood. The plasma that is then obtained is used for treatment.
- The Double spin method, however, takes the plasma after the single spin cycle, and then spins it for another cycle. This second cycle further spins off components of whole blood that does not contain healing factors and that may actually not be beneficial to the treatment area where it is applied, so affecting YOUR final result.
Make sure you get the best PRP available, ask for the DOUBLE SPIN method.
Process & Treatment
PRE-TREATMENT guidelines will be discussed during your consultation to ensure optimal blood health and treatment results.
15-60 minutes
At Captivating Aesthetics, the first step is to book a consultation with our team experts. During this consultation a brief medical and relevant aesthetic history will be taken. You will have the chance to discuss your treatment concerns, your treatment goals, your fears and concerns in regards to the actual treatment itself.
A detailed series of photographs will be taken at every visit to show the progression towards your end goal.
Same day treatment is often possible and is usually discussed at the time of booking the consultation.
After booking our friendly team will send you a link to our patient portal, which allows you to complete the necessary forms in the comfort and safety of your own home. Once you arrive for your appointment, our front office team will get a set of baseline photos, and your treatment technician for the appointment will meet with you. They will ensure you understand the procedure, make sure your skin is adequately prepared, and bring you back into one of our treatment rooms. For skin treatments you will be advised to discontinue all irritant topical agents for 2-3 days before the treatment.
Although in office freezing options are available, based on personal preference and time constraint, you may want to apply a topical anaesthetic before. You will receive specific guidelines if this is the case.
Depending on which PRP modality is selected, the treatment process remains relatively uniform. The area will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared, and dedicated treatment zones may be mapped out. The donor (blood) site will also be prepared. A venesection (blood draw) will be performed by one of our trained staff members, where-after the whole blood will then be centrifuged using the double spin technique in order to obtain only the highest concentration and quality of PRP. Depending on your specific treatment plan, the PRP will then be either injected, or applied and injected (medical microneedling) as discussed during your consultation.
Topical numbing or a nerve block (better known as freezing) may be used in certain areas to anaesthetize the area, making the procedure virtually pain free. The actual placement of the product only takes a few minutes, and the entire process can be anywhere from 15 minutes or longer (depending on the number of areas treated).
If relevant, photographs may be done immediately after the procedure. You will also receive specific after-care directions. For skin rejuvenation, the most important is hydration, applying post-treatment skincare and avoiding direct sun exposure. When to continue your daily skincare regimen will be discussed with you after your treatment, but a guideline will be when your skin has completely healed ( 5-7 days). Certain PRP treatments may require specific post care. This will be discussed in detail during your consultation, and you will receive post care information on the day of treatment.
Typically the actual social downtime is minimal, and mineral makeup can be applied as soon as 1-2 days after the actual procedure. Certain mineral based makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment. Micro lesions ( needle entry) along with some redness may be seen for a few days after the treatment. Our team experts will advise you on which mineral makeup is best suited to your long term needs
It is very important to note that certain treatment areas will be prone to swelling and bruising as part of our intended process of “controlled injury”. This is usually minimal. Other general considerations will be discussed during the consultation.
Essentially you can go on with life as normal.
The swelling is minimal and usually subsides within the first day. If relevant, the bruising can easily be covered up with a concealer, and usually settles completely within 3 days.
The cost of the procedure will be determined by which treatment modality is chosen based on your concerns, treatment goals and specific needs. PRP injection ranges from $650+.
